RECYCLING CENTER

Operation of the recycling center includes:

  • Collecting of recyclables from township schools
  • Delivering all recycled material to market
  • Scheduling and pick-up of scrap metal from township residences

Electronic Items Not Accepted At the Recycling Center:

No Alkaline Batteries                                   
No Household Hazardous Waste                   

No Materials Containing Liquids                     

No Radioactive materials       
No PCB Containing Materials 
No CDs, DVDs, VHS Tapes, or Cassette Tapes
No Light Bulbs (LED, CFL, Incandescent)
No Scavenged CRT TV's Monitors (containing broken glass or broken housing)
No Mercury Containing Devices (thermostats, medical devices, thermometers)
No Smoke Detectors
No Light Bulbs of any kind 

Hours: 8am to 12pm.  Maplewood residents may also bring their electronics to South Orange on the collection days held in South Orange (300 Walton Rd.)

SHRED-IT DAY

Shred-It Day is an opportunity for Maplewood residents to shred any personal paper items such as legal documents, private records and files, books, etc.  There will be two Shred-It Days at the Maplewood Recycling Center, located at 359 Boyden Ave. as follows:

  1. April 9, 2016 from 8am – 12pm, or until the truck fills up, whichever occurs first.

  1. October 22, 2016 from 8am – 12pm, or until the truck fills up, whichever occurs first.

THIS SERVICE IS STRICTLY FOR MAPLEWOOD RESIDENTS ONLY

Waste Industries New Services - Pay as You Throw and Other Options

Attention Waste Industries Customer
If you are a WASTE INDUSTRIES CUSTOMER – You can have up to 4 items picked up curbside on the last saturday of the month.  You must make an appointment at 973-761-0009.  This program will replace the fall pick up program. 

Waste Management New Services - Pay as You Throw and Other Options

Attention Waste Management Customers
If you are a WASTE MANAGEMENT CUSTOMER – You can have up to 4 items picked up curbside on the last Wednesday of the month. You must make an appointment at 1-800-633-9096. This program will replace the fall pick up program.

All residential curbside recycling will be collected on EVERY Monday for the Entire Town.
