Mission Statement:

As the local branch of the judiciary, the Maplewood Court is committed to resolving all disputes that occur within our township, while upholding the laws of the Constitution of the United States.  The Court strives to accomplish the Administrative Office of the Court’s (AOC) four core values: Independence, Integrity, Fairness, and Quality service, with sensitivity to our diverse community.

2010 Departmental Goals

  • Maintain current backlog standards established by AOC
  • Maintain proper accounting and audit recommendations
  • After Instruction from the Township committee, provide implementation support for the potential shared services agreement with South range Municipal Court
  • Stagger Court Sessions to assist customer service and provide judicial efficiency
  • Continue to review and revise the Court Security Plan and modify to address addition of Security Screeners and Evacuation Plan
  •  To Complete Phase III of the Certification Project for Both Tara Murry-Hicks, DCA and Ryan X. Bancroft, MCA
  •  To enroll violations clerk, Tracie Mugan into classes for Principles of Court Administration.  By increased training this will assist the Court to operate on a reduced staff.
  •  Utilize POAA monies to help achieve records retention and monitor  ticket Control procedure.  Both are areas where the court has been challenged  through reduced staffing.
  •  In a departmental effort to promote green living, the Court will attempt to   plant a garden out side the office in the interior beds of the parking lots.
  • Explore the possibilities of the E-ticketing system.  A new feature which automates the issuance of a summons.  As opposed to the PATS system, this system is not limited to parking summons and it does not require the creation of a parking authority.  This will also make the Court staff more efficient by reducing data entry.
  •  Readdress the municipal court’s portion of the township website.  Promote public access on court information and procedures.  A byproduct of which should be a more efficient and effective department.
  •  Research and implement a more effective KVM switch for Court personnel to accelerate the transition between township owned PC and AOC computers.  Last, the addition of a scanner should increase the   Courts Technical functionality and remain efficient.
  •   Implement the Witness Request Fee in accordance with R.7:7-8.
