Tax Assessor
Description of Department:
The main function of the Tax Assessor’s office is to value all property in the Township for tax purposes. The Tax Assessor’s office handles assessment issues, and maintains current deeds and sales information.
The Tax Assessor’s Office is open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Additionally the Tax Assessor is in Wednesday evenings from 4:15-7:00 PM. Please call 973-762-8120 x2400 to make an appointment for the Assessor or his assistant.
Mission Statement:
Our goals are to maintain assessments, defend tax appeals, continue fieldwork, create added assessments, and process deeds and building permits. We will keep up with all statutory requirements and continue to train the assistant to the tax assessor in all areas. We will work closely with Appraisal Systems to ensure that the residents of Maplewood are well informed throughout the revaluation process.
We will be involved in the thought process of valuing all properties in Maplewood and will be reviewing all aspects of the job including, neighborhood delineation, sales analysis, and land value formulas to ensure future assessment maintenance.
