The Assistant Township Administrator serves as the Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) for the Township of Maplewood. The QPA is responsible for the development and issuing Requests for Bid, Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications.

The QPA also maintains a Purchasing Manual for Township and trains employees on the various issues related to public purchasing.

The Township spends approximately $18MM on various good and services each year. In 2012 the governing body known as the Township Committee has initiated a "Looking Local First" initiative. Department heads are asked when purchasing goods or services to first look within the Township to see if they can make that purchase using a local vendor.

Local businesses who want to be considered for a future purchasing relationship with Maplewood can submit a Business Registration Form. Vendors wanting to be included should complete and submit the form online. They may also fax it (973-762-3645) or email it as an attachment ().
