Located in metropolitan New York City, just 12 miles west of Manhattan and in the heart of affluent west Essex County, Maplewood is less than 1 mile from the intersection of the Garden State Parkway and I-78, and minutes from the N.J. Turnpike.
Maplewood's New Jersey Transit train station provides 44 daily trains to NY Penn Station, just a 30 minute ride away, and over 30 daily trains to Hoboken. Regional commuters come into our town every day.
One of our major commercial thoroughfares, Springfield Avenue, is a main artery traveled daily by five NJ Transit bus lines and regional east-west suburban traffic passes through our community, connecting Newark to Springfield.
Newark's Liberty International Airport and Port Newark, a deep-sea port, are within 15 minutes of the Township. This is particularly attractive for those firms involved in telecommunications, health care and international trade.

Maplewood is home to two Special Improvement Districts (SIDs), the and the Springfield Avenue Partnership Both SIDs serve as integral points of contact between the Township and business owners, and sponsor events within their districts. New Commercial Construction
Maplewood continues to draw new businesses that keep consumer dollars within our community. Under construction on Valley Street, just north of Parker Avenue is a 12,000 square foot CVS, whose tentative opening date is late February.
