Exercise in the Parks: Walking/Jogging Paths
Health Department Encourages Walking/ Jogging in Parks
In 2015, the Maplewood Health Department, in partnership with the Maplewood Building and Recreation Departments, developed walking/ jogging trail maps for all four Maplewood parks that have a physical trail: Memorial Park, Maplecrest Park, Borden Park and DeHart Park.
In 2016, with funding from the Open Space Trust Fund and in collaboration with the Maplewood Historic Preservation Commission, the Township of Maplewood have developed a community exhibit for three of these parks which includes the walking/ jogging paths as well as historical information about the park and the surrounding neighborhood.
"Walking and exercising in Maplewood’s beautiful parks not only contributes to your physical well-being - you’ll be outdoors in nature. Fresh air, trees, and maybe, meeting new friends will all contribute to your wellness.” says Health Officer, Robert Roe.

The three exhibits will be installed in the Spring of 2017.
Maplewood has six parks; most of which have a walking/ jogging path for exercise. Residents, however, may not know the distance around each of these paths and knowing the distances can be a great motivator and a way to measure progress.
