Maplewood Village Paver Replacement Project

Maplewood Village to Get New Pavers!!

As part of the aesthetic enhancement and safety upgrades to Maplewood Village, the Township will be replacing the existing sidewalk pavers on both sides of Maplewood Avenue and installing traffic-calming bump outs on Maplewood Avenue’s west side.  During the course of the project, the Township will advise of any loss of parking spots, and temporary closures of sidewalks and/or vehicular detours.  The Maplewood Police Department will have officers assist in pedestrian and vehicular detours as needed.

The project will be implemented in two phases.  Phase one runs from October 8 until November 16 of this year and includes all the work related to installing the bump outs on west side of Maplewood Avenue at the intersections of Durand Road, Baker Street, and Lenox Place.   Phase two of the project will resume on or about April 1, 2019, at which time sidewalks on both sides of Maplewood Avenue will be paved.

Please note1) There will be no construction or sidewalk/street impediments on Halloween and 2) The project will be suspended on November 16 until after the New Year to allow for our usual village holiday festivities and shopping period!

Phase One      October 8 - November 16, 2018

Work will begin on the bump outs, starting with the intersection of Maplewood Avenue and Durand Road.  The contractor will remove existing pavers at the intersection, and on adjacent sidewalks as necessary, make drainage upgrades, install curb bump outs and replace and install curbing and pavers where necessary.  The same work will be performed where Maplewood Avenue intersects with Baker Street and Lenox Place.

November 16, 2018 – Project Suspended for Holiday Season

Phase Two   Project Resumes April 2019

Sidewalk pavers will be replaced on the east and west sides of Maplewood Avenue.

Ongoing Notices to Public

The Township is committed to minimizing inconvenience to the public and merchants during this project, and will provide weekly updates on the Township website, email blasts, Twitter and via the Maplewood Construction News Facebook page.

Parking and Vehicular Circulation

During the project, materials and equipment will be staged in the parking lot at 60 Woodland Road, resulting in the temporary loss of about 10 parking spots.  The Maplewood Police Department will secure the staging area, and assist in any pedestrian/vehicular detours as needed during the project.
