Voting Guidelines for the November 2 General Election

Maplewood Township and Essex County have both issued voting guidelines for participation in the November General Election (see below). There are three ways that residents can participate in this election, each of which is outlined:

The deadline to apply for a VBM ballot is October 26, 2021. You can apply for one here.

If you are going away or if you are a registered voter in college, this is the method you will use to vote absentee.

If mailed, completed VBMs must be postmarked by November 2.

For those voting by mail, a ballot box is available at 1618 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood (Maplewood Police and Court Building) and can be accessed at any time prior to 8:00 P.M.. on November 2. Ballot Boxes will NOT be available at polling sites. A list of other secure ballot drop boxes throughout Essex County may be found here.

Completed VBMs will not be accepted at in-person early voting or election day polling sites.

All registered voters have the option of in-person early voting at ANY of Essex County’s early voting locations from October 23, 2021 through October 31, 2021, 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., except Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
