2019 Kids Camp

2020 Kid's Camp

Calling all Kids Camp Campers from Maplewood and South Orange!

Dear Camp Parents/ Guardians,

We hope you all are safe and healthy during these troubling times.
During COVID 19, many things are uncertain and dreary, but we have some good news for this summer at Maplewood Recreation! The Governor has given us the executive order that Kids Camp can still operate beginning on July 6th.

Updates on Kids Camp:
All field trips and pool outings have been cancelled.
Campers will be remaining at DeHart Park and Community Center and/ or Maplecrest Park.
50 campers total for each week broken into socially distanced groups of 10 (these groups will be organized according to families and neighborhoods- not by age this year for the sake of contact tracing).
Kids Camp is going to be vintage this year with outdoor games, arts & crafts, and plenty of fun! In case of rain or inclement weather, we have tons of space in the DeHart Community Center to keep the campers safely distanced.
Hand washing will be a must and we will have hand sanitizer stations throughout camp.
Every camper will have their temperatures taken at the beginning of each day with a non- contact thermometer.
Face masks will be worn by all counselors and we ask that you send your camper with a face mask for the time that social distancing cannot be implemented.
We are currently still waiting for more specific guidelines from the CDC and State Health Department and will be updating you when we know more.

If your family’s camp needs have changed in light of COVID19, we ask that you please reach out right away for a refund. With a smaller camp this year, we would like any refund requests by 6/15/2020.

If you have any further questions, please contact us via email or at (973)763-4202 and we will be happy to answer to the best of our abilities. We look forward to a summer of outdoor play and memories!

FUNKY FUN ART PRESENTS: The 2020 Maplewood Recreation Summer Arts Camp

The studio is set up with multiple art stations. Kids are able to choose what they would like to work on. Stations will rotate to have new projects available to inspire creativity. We do focus on a theme each week but there are plenty of other options to keep kids entertained. There will be an organized lunch time and planned outdoor time, weather permitted. While art is our focus we will also have time to play games and have tons of creative summer fun!

Updates on Funky Fun Art Camp:

Funky Fun Art Camp will take place at The Woodland. We will be using all 3 floors to safely distance all groups.

The culture of the camp will remain the same- allowing campers to choose what they would like to work on in tandem with our fun and funky designated themes.
30 campers total for each week into groups of 5 (these groups will be organized according to families and neighborhoods- not by age this year for the sake of contact tracing).
All stations will be disinfected in between each use and at the end of each day.
We are currently still waiting for more specific guidelines from the CDC and State Health Department and will be updating you when we know more.
