Adult Indonesian mediation & Stretching

Nine Shadows is a system of movement and breathing meditation coming from the island of Java, Indonesia. It is based on a combination of Indian and Chinese body sciences, similar to yoga but with more dynamic movements and a specific approach to energy development. Students will be introduced to a meditation system emphasizing breathing and mindfulness, as well as overall body stretching and limbering. During the eight week session, students will learn several breathing meditations, increase flexibility, and develop techniques for addressing and calming the “monkey mind” that makes meditation difficult for many beginners. Students do not need any prior knowledge of meditation, and do not need to be particularly strong or flexible. The only requirements are an ability to sit cross-legged for at least fifteen minutes and an open mind. Students should bring a yoga mat and dress in comfortable, loose clothing. Registration is required and is limited to the first 20 people.

This class is located on the Third floor of the woodland (60 woodland road Maplewood, 07040)
Dates: Tuesdays, 6:00PM - 6:30PM 4/7 - 5/26. 8 total classes.
